Around The Estate

There are many way-marked walking and horse-riding routes which cross the Estate, following the river at times and the old railway line. Sections of both St Cuthbert's Way and the Borders Abbeys Way are through Estate land and the Jedforest Trails for walkers, riders and mountain bikers also make use of the woodlands. You can climb up to Penielheugh for a panoramic view of the river valley, especially dramatic on a stormy day!

Historical sites abound, from Dere Street to Ferniehirst Castle and Monteviot House to the Capon Tree and the King of the Wood which are within protected ancient woodlands

Fishing is available on the river. Click here to find out more.
